Hosui - a kind of sweet pears

A couple of days ago, my relative, who lives in Hita, Ooita Prefecture, sent me a lot of pears called Hosui. According to my own research, although Hosui is produced almost all over Japan, the Hosui in Hita is sweeter than that in any other area because of the climate in Hita. Because Hita is located in a basin, the temparatures vary between day and night. This climate makes the pears in Hita sweeter.

When I opend up the box, a sweet smell penetrated the room. Immediately I cut one of the pears in hafl and ate it.

I think that this kind of pears has adequite sweetness for most adults. I know a sweeter pear, called 21seiki, than this. Children might like 21seiki more than Hosui, but I think that they are excessively sweet for most adults.
